Thomas McKelvey
(MAF, Tanzania)  

Background

As Thomas was brought up in Moorfields, Ballymena and made a childhood decision to become a Christian. He studied Mechanical Engineering at University, and has been a member of Ballymena Baptist Church all his adult life. Having worked in his father's crane business, and also as a development engineer in an optical company, he felt guided by God to join the MAF UK engineering scholarship scheme.

His interest in MAF began when he visited his sister who was supporting MAF personnel in Tanzania by teaching their children, and Thomas has now successfully completed 3 years of training at MMS Aviation in Ohio. He has qualified as an FAA Aircraft Engineer for airframe and engines, and has been accepted for placement overseas with MAF.
